Lee Container Honored with BASF Award
Posted on July 2nd, 2014

Lee Container was recently named BASF Premiere Partner Award for its assistance with the development of the BASF Eco Bottle. Based on 2014 anticipated volumes, the new 2.5 gallon Eco Bottle will reduce approximately 210,000 pounds of plastic from the waste stream compared to the current industry standard 2.5 gallon plastic container and contains 18% less plastic.  This plastic weight savings is equivalent to 42 full-size crew cab trucks, and the amount of resin saved by the new design could make enough 2.5 gallon bottles to cover two and one third football fields.
Lee Container supplies five million bottles annually to BASF’s 11 locations including Puerto Rico from its three locations: Homerville, Nacogdoches, Texas, and Centerville, Iowa. The companies have worked together for 14 years.
BASF Corporation, headquartered in Florham Park, New Jersey, is the North American affiliate of BASF SE, Ludwigshafen, Germany. The BASF portfolio ranges from chemicals, plastics, performance products and crop protection products to oil and gas. Lee Container, headquartered in Homerville, is a manufacturer of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) containers for the crop protection, lubricants, pet care, beverage, specialty and household products industries.
